Which jacket to choose for a baby boy

tuc tuc baby boys' jackets are light layers for in-between seasons and special occasions: printed woven jackets with a hood or zip pockets, denim jackets, blazers with classic lapels and a button-up waistcoat. From size 0-1 month. For a complete look, pair them with our baby boys' outfits or baby boys' shirts.

Everyday or celebration

For everyday wear, a zip-up woven jacket is the most practical: lightweight, quick to fasten and tough enough for the park. For an event, a blazer or waistcoat adds a smart touch without being uncomfortable: there are knitted blazers, which are softer, and woven ones, which are more structured.

What to check before you buy

  • Front fastening: a zip or buttons, never over the head.
  • A hood if he'll be spending a lot of time outdoors.
  • Zip pockets if he's already walking and collecting treasures.

Size

Measure him: 9-12 months = 72–74 cm, 12-18 months = 75–83 cm, 18-24 months = 83–92 cm, 2 years = 84–92 cm. If he'll wear a jumper underneath, go for the next size. On the product page you can enter his height and we'll suggest the size.

All tuc tuc jackets are made in line with the European REACH regulation, which bans harmful substances in textiles that touch his skin.

Knitted or woven blazer?

For young babies, the knitted one: it's softer, moves with them and is comfy in the car seat. The woven one looks smarter and works better once he's walking.

Frequently asked questions

Which baby boy blazer is the most comfortable?

The knitted blazer is the most comfortable: soft, flexible and it doesn't pinch at the shoulders when he's crawling or in his seat. The woven one is smarter and more structured, ideal for a short celebration or a photo.

What size jacket should I order for a 9-month-old baby?

Usually 9-12 months, for 72–74 cm. If he's already over 74 cm, go for 12-18 months (75–83 cm). See all the measurements in the size guide. On the product page you can enter his height and we'll suggest the size.

What do you wear with a baby boy's waistcoat?

With a shirt and plain trousers it looks really smart, ideal for christenings and family lunches. You'll find ideas in boys' special occasion. For everyday, it also works over a long-sleeved top. Choose one with easy-to-fasten buttons.

How do I care for a baby's woven jacket?

As a general rule, do up the zip and wash it inside out, on a cold wash and without tumble drying; always follow the care label. That protects the print and stops the zip snagging other clothes in the machine. Air-dry it on a hanger.

Which baby boy jacket is best for the park?

A zip-up woven jacket and, ideally, one with a hood: it keeps the wind out, wipes clean easily and weighs next to nothing. Zip pockets are a bonus once he's walking. Choose bright colours you can spot from afar and a print he likes.

What does tuc tuc offer in baby boys' jackets?

tuc tuc has woven jackets with dinosaur, pirate, animal or surf prints, hooded denim jackets, knitted and woven blazers and a button-up waistcoat, from 0-1 month. All are made in line with the European REACH regulation.
