tuc tuc baby girl swimwear brings together knitted swimsuits, bikinis and swim bottoms, hooded towels and ponchos and water shoes with hook-and-loop fastening. Swimwear sizes start at 1-3 months and shoes at EU size 20. If you only need a swimsuit, head to baby girl swimsuits; for other summer outfits, see our baby girl dresses.
What a baby girl needs at the pool
- Swim bottoms or a swimsuit that fits over a swim nappy.
- Hooded poncho: one size, it wraps her up and keeps her head warm when she gets out.
- Water shoes with hook-and-loop fastening, if she's already walking: they adjust easily and protect from hot ground.
Sizes for fast-growing babies
For swimwear, go by height: 69–71 cm = 6-9 months, 75–83 cm = 12-18 months, 83–92 cm = 18-24 months. For shoes, go by foot length: the first sizes run from EU 20 to 23. If in doubt, go up a size.
A relaxed summer
Pack a bag with two swimsuits, a poncho, a hat and sun cream. Find shade when the sun is strongest and rinse everything in fresh water when you get home.
How to put pieces together
Choose a poncho in a shade that picks up a colour from the swim bottoms and you'll have a perfect outfit for photos. Fruit and floral prints go easily together.
Water shoes before walking?
While she's crawling or being carried, she doesn't need them. Save the water shoes for when she takes her first steps on her own on the sand or by the pool.
Frequently asked questions
What swimwear does a one year old baby girl need?
A one year old baby girl needs two swimsuits or swim bottoms in size 12-18 months (75–83 cm), a hooded poncho and, if she's walking, water shoes. To check clothing and shoe sizes, see the size guide.
What size water shoes does a baby girl who is starting to walk wear?
Usually between EU size 20 and 22, although it depends on her foot. Measure the sole of her foot and choose the size with half a centimetre of room. Water shoes with hook-and-loop fastening fit small feet better and are easier to put on.
Does a baby need a poncho at the beach?
It's not essential, but it's very practical: a hooded poncho dries and warms her at the same time and doesn't fall off like a towel. It's especially useful on windy days or when getting out of the pool in the late afternoon.
How do you wash a baby girl's swimwear?
Rinse swimsuits, towels and shoes in fresh water after swimming. As a general rule, wash swimsuits cold, inside out and without fabric softener, and dry everything in the shade, without tumble drying. Follow each item's care label.
What to buy a baby girl for the summer?
Frilly swim bottoms and a matching poncho make a lovely, useful gift. If you want to add something else, a summer piece from our baby girl dresses rounds it off. The poncho is one size, so it's always a safe bet.
What baby girl swimwear does tuc tuc have?
tuc tuc has knitted swimsuits, bikinis and swim bottoms, hooded towels and ponchos in fruit, mermaid or animal prints, and water shoes. All our own designs, made in line with the EU REACH regulation.
