Baby boys' shirts: cool and easy to wear

tuc tuc baby boys' shirts are lightweight woven fabric shirts, mostly short-sleeved, with palm tree or abstract prints, a classic design or details such as a detachable bow tie and roll-up tab sleeves. They're a cool option for hot weather and celebrations. Sizes from 6 months. For every day, take a look at our baby boys' T-shirts.

Why a woven fabric shirt

Lightweight woven fabric is breathable and doesn't cling to the body, which is why a short-sleeved shirt can be cooler than a T-shirt on really hot days. It's also smarter for christenings, weddings or family lunches.

Baby shirt sizes

  • 9 months: 69–71 cm.
  • 12 months: 72–74 cm.
  • 18 months: 75–83 cm.
  • 2 years: 84–92 cm.

Shirts don't stretch, so if he's between two sizes, go for the larger one. More measurements in the size guide.

Practical details

Look at the fastening: front buttons make it easier to dress a baby without pulling the garment over his head. A detachable bow tie means he can wear the shirt to a wedding and later for a stroll without it.

Caring for the shirt

Remove the bow tie before washing, wash cold and without tumble drying, and dry the shirt on a hanger to reduce creases.

A shirt for hot weather?

Yes. A short-sleeved shirt in a light fabric, worn open over a bodysuit or buttoned up, lets the air through and protects the shoulders from the sun better than a vest.

Frequently asked questions

What size shirt should I buy for a 1-year-old baby boy?

For a 1-year-old, choose size 12 months if he's 72–74 cm, or size 18 months (75–83 cm) if he's already over 74 cm. As woven fabric shirts don't stretch, it should be roomy around the tummy and shoulders.

Is a shirt comfortable for a baby boy?

Yes, if it's made from a light fabric and has a relaxed fit. A short-sleeved shirt with front buttons goes on and comes off without going over his head. For crawling and nursery, however, a jersey T-shirt is still more practical.

What shirt should a baby boy wear to a christening?

For a christening, choose a classic design shirt in a light shade or one with a detachable bow tie, paired with shorts or smart trousers. In our boys' special occasion section you'll find more pieces to complete the look.

How do I wash a baby's woven fabric shirt?

Wash it cold, inside out and without tumble drying, always following the care label. If it has a detachable bow tie, remove it first. Hang it up as soon as you take it out so the creases drop out and a couple of passes of the iron on the collar will do.

What goes with a baby's palm tree shirt?

A palm tree print shirt looks great with plain shorts in beige, blue or white. If the print is bold, keep the rest of the outfit simple. It's an ideal combination for holidays, outdoor lunches or beach photos.
