tuc tuc boys' coats and sweatshirts are made for autumn and winter: hooded or zip-up fleece sweatshirts with dinosaur, car or animal prints, hooded raincoats and padded coats. Sizes run from 6 months to 15 years depending on the style. Pair them with our boys' sweatshirts and boys' trousers.
Woven, fleece or padded
Woven fabric is more tightly constructed: it keeps out wind and drizzle and usually has a hood and zip. Fleece is soft and keeps him warm as a layer over a top. For winter, a padded coat; some have a lined hood or waterproof fabric.
- Rain: a hooded raincoat.
- In-between seasons: a fleece sweatshirt or jacket.
- Cold: a padded coat over a sweatshirt or jumper.
Size
Height is the reliable guide: 3 years = 93–98 cm, 5 years = 105–110 cm, 7 years = 117–122 cm, 10 years = 129–136 cm. If he'll wear a sweatshirt underneath, go for the next size. On the product page you can enter his height and we'll suggest the size; more measurements in the size guide.
Safe fabrics
All tuc tuc clothing is made in line with the European REACH regulation.
A hooded fleece sweatshirt and a padded coat will see him through almost any autumn or winter day.
Should I size up in jackets?
If he'll wear a jumper or sweatshirt underneath, yes: choose the next size up from his height. To wear it over a top, stick to his usual size.
Frequently asked questions
What size coat does a 4-year-old boy need?
Size 4 years is for 99–104 cm. If the coat will go over a sweatshirt or he's close to 104 cm, choose 5 years (105–110 cm). More measurements in the size guide.
What's the difference between a woven jacket and a fleece sweatshirt?
A woven jacket is more tightly constructed: it keeps out wind and drizzle. A fleece sweatshirt is softer and keeps him warm as a mid layer. In winter, neither replaces a padded coat.
What's the best coat for a boy who never sits still?
A lightweight padded coat with a hood and zip: warm without being heavy and lets him move freely. For rainy, muddy days, a hooded raincoat over his sweatshirt is more practical and easy to wipe clean. Even better if he can do it up himself.
How do I wash my son's padded coat?
Do up the zips, wash it on a cold, delicate cycle and always follow the care label. Air-dry it laid out flat and give it a shake now and then so the filling spreads evenly. Avoid the tumble dryer and the iron.
Which boy's sweatshirt should I give as a gift if I don't know his size?
A hooded fleece sweatshirt in the size for his age or one up: it allows for extra room and gets worn every day. Dinosaur, car or animal designs are always a hit with little ones.
What boys' coats and sweatshirts does tuc tuc have?
tuc tuc has fleece sweatshirts with and without hoods, raincoats, padded coats (some waterproof or with a lined hood) and a woven coat with a soft lining. For rain, see our raincoats. All comply with the European REACH regulation.
