tuc tuc boys' swimwear includes quick-dry woven fabric swim shorts with an adjustable drawstring and stretch-knit swim briefs, in comic, skate, shark or palm tree prints. Sizes run from 6 months to 16 years. For the rest of the pool day, see our boys' swimwear and boys' shorts.
Woven swim shorts or knitted briefs
- Woven swim shorts: light, loose and quick-drying. The favourite for playing in the sand and spending the day at the beach.
- Knitted briefs or trunks: close-fitting, they don't balloon in the water. Great for swimming, jumping in and for little ones.
Fit and size
On swim shorts, the drawstring lets you tighten the waist; if he's between two sizes, go for the larger and pull it in. Guide: 5 years = 105–110 cm, 8 years = 123–128 cm, 12 years = 137–144 cm. With briefs, the right size won't leave marks on the legs.
Prints they'll love
From about 6 or 7, many children want to choose their own swimwear. Let him pick from two or three prints you're happy with: he'll be keener to wear it and more likely to put on his T-shirt and sun cream when it's time.
Lined or unlined?
If your son complains of chafing, choose close-fitting knitted swimwear or woven swim shorts with an inner lining. Check the description on the product page before buying.
Frequently asked questions
What size swimwear does a 6 year old boy need?
A 6 year old boy usually wears size 6 years, which corresponds to 111–116 cm. If he's taller than 116 cm, choose 7 years (117–122 cm). With drawstring swim shorts, the larger size can be adjusted. You'll find all the measurements in the size guide.
Are swim shorts or swim briefs better for a boy?
It depends on how he'll use them: swim shorts are more comfortable for the beach and playing, while swim briefs are better for swimming because they don't drag or fill with water. Lots of children have one of each: shorts for holidays and briefs for the pool or lessons.
What does woven fabric mean on boys' swimwear?
Woven fabric is a non-stretch fabric, like the kind used for shorts. In swimwear it's usually light and quick-drying, and it's used for short-style designs. Knit, on the other hand, is stretchy and hugs the body.
How do you get chlorine out of boys' swimwear?
Rinse the swimwear in fresh water as soon as he gets out of the pool, without leaving it rolled up in the towel. As a general rule, wash it inside out and cold, without bleach or tumble drying, and hang it in the shade. Always follow the care label instructions.
What goes with boys' swimwear for the beach?
A light T-shirt, a poncho towel and water shoes complete the look. You can find ponchos in our boys' towels. Choose colours that pick up a shade from the swimwear print so everything goes together.
Up to what age does tuc tuc sell boys' swimwear?
tuc tuc has boys' swimwear from 6 months to 16 years, depending on the style, in both quick-dry woven fabric and knitted brief styles. All items are made in line with the EU REACH regulation, which restricts harmful substances in textiles.
