Shorts

An 8 year old girl usually wears size 8A, for a height of 123–128 cm. If she's over 128 cm, move up to 10A (129–136 cm). Shorts with a drawstring or elasticated waist give leeway at the waist, but the length depends on the size. See the size guide.

It depends on the plan: knit shorts are cooler and stretchier, ideal for playing, summer camp and very hot days. Denim shorts are more hard-wearing and look smarter for going out. If you're only buying one pair, go for knit for every day; if she already has some, add a denim pair.

Wash them inside out on a cold, delicate cycle, ideally in a laundry bag so the pointelle doesn't snag. Dry them flat, without a tumble dryer, so they keep their shape. Don't wring them out and always follow the care label.
