Boys' jackets: a guide to choosing

tuc tuc boys' jackets are light layers for in-between seasons: woven fabric jackets with dinosaur, pirate, animal or surf prints, denim jackets, blazers with classic lapels and a button-up waistcoat. Sizes from 6 months to 16 years depending on the style. Pair them with our boys' shirts; for colder weather, see our boys' coats.

Woven jacket, denim or blazer

  • Woven jacket: lightweight, with a zip and sometimes zipped pockets. For school, the park and windy days.
  • Denim: hard-wearing and easy to match; over a top or a thin sweatshirt.
  • Blazer and waistcoat: for family lunches, First Communions or weddings, with a shirt.

Size

Measure your son: 3 years = 93–98 cm, 5 years = 105–110 cm, 8 years = 123–128 cm, 10 years = 129–136 cm. If the jacket goes over a sweatshirt, go for the next size. Some styles come in dual sizes (5-6 years, 7-8 years…). Full chart in the size guide.

Easy outfit ideas

Printed jacket with plain trousers and top. Blazer with a light shirt and single-colour trousers. And if you love denim, you'll find more pieces in boys' denim.

All tuc tuc clothing is made in line with the European REACH regulation, which bans harmful substances in textiles.

Jacket or blazer?

For everyday, a woven jacket: easy to wash and keeps the wind out. The blazer is for events; if it's knitted, he'll wear it with jeans too.

Frequently asked questions

What jacket does a boy need for spring and autumn?

A zip-up woven jacket is the most useful: lightweight, keeps the wind out and stands up to the park. A denim jacket is the go-with-everything alternative. Choose one with a hood if it's very windy where you live.

What size jacket should I order for a 5-year-old boy?

Size 5 years is for 105–110 cm. If he'll wear it over a sweatshirt or he's close to 110 cm, order 6 years (111–116 cm). On the product page you can enter his height and we'll suggest the size.

What should a boy wear to a First Communion or wedding?

A blazer or waistcoat with a shirt and plain trousers is the smartest and most comfortable option. You'll find complete outfit ideas in boys' special occasion. For a younger boy, a knitted blazer is better, as it's softer and lets him move.

How do you wash a boy's jacket?

As a general rule, do up the zip, turn it inside out and wash on a cold wash without tumble drying; follow the care label. That protects the print and stops the zip snagging other clothes. Air-dry it on a hanger.

Is a denim jacket a good gift for a boy?

Yes, because it goes with almost everything and gets worn in spring and autumn. Choose the size for his height, or one up if you want it to last two seasons. It looks great with sweatshirts and shirts.

What boys' jackets does tuc tuc have?

tuc tuc has woven jackets with all-over, pirate, adventure or surf prints, denim jackets, knitted and woven blazers and a button-up waistcoat. All are made in line with the European REACH regulation.
