Blouses

For an 8-year-old girl, size 8 years corresponds to 123–128 cm. If she's taller than 128 cm, choose size 10 years (129–136 cm). Check she can cross her arms without the blouse pulling across the back.

The coolest is a strappy top or a lightweight woven fabric blouse, which doesn't cling to the body and lets the air through. In strong sun, a blouse with a bit of sleeve to cover the shoulders is a better choice.

A tie-dye blouse already has lots of colour, so pair it with plain pieces: denim shorts, white trousers or girls' leggings in a shade picked out from the blouse. Finish with simple sandals or trainers.

Wash it inside out, cold and without tumble drying, and always follow the care label. It's best to wash colourful embroidery with similar colours the first time. Iron inside out so you don't flatten the raised embroidery. Hang it up as soon as you take it out.
